Pretty much ready for Ernesto

I don’t think it’s cool that storms have people names.  I think that’s a seriously huge problem.

We just sat in line for 25 minutes to get gas, and that was at one of the better places.  Lines at other stations were even longer, and many of the longer lines were actually at more expensive station.  Weird.  A lot of people were complaining today about everyone freaking out to get gas and stock up on supplies.  Not me.  The last time I saw people acting like this, it was AFTER Wilma hit, and there were only 16 traffic signals working in this county.  Today, traffic signals were working normally, so while traffic was worse than usual, it was a great deal better than it could have been.

All schools (including universities) are closed tomorrow in both Dade and Broward counties.  Most businesses are closed as well.  My fiancée and I are still getting up early tomorrow, but it’s to work out.

I’m a little stressed about the job, because I have so much to do, but I’m trying to not let it get to me.  I have a lot to do at home as well, so tomorrow will be a bit of a blessing in ways.  Of course, a lot of what I have to do is prepare for the storm, which wouldn’t even be relevant if there were no storm.

We’re also going to Los Angeles this Thursday, and I’m a bit concerned that the storm is going to cancel the flight.  I’m pretty sure it’ll at least be postponed, and that’s tolerable, but I really hope it’s not cancelled.

The good news is that Ernesto is only a tropical storm with 40MPH winds.  That and he’s expected to pass through Wednesday.  Thursday should be post-storm weather, which means flights should be getting back on track.  Fingers crossed.

And my thoughts are with everyone in South Florida that still has a blue tarp on their roof…
