GALA GALA HAPPY

God know if this is going to work on your computer, but here:

SoftHard 軟硬天師
廣播道FANS殺人事件

Now, what do you need to know?

SoftHard is a cantonese group. The second line there is the album name. The one with FANS in the middle. It has a song of the same name on it. There’s another song called GALA GALA HAPPY. The Cantonese duo is just hilarious, and I have this CD.

It’s out of print, I found out, and there are apparently some people looking for it.  Now, I’m not willing to give up the CD itself, but if you’re one of those tasteful few who is wanting to hear it, you should leave a comment with some info where I can reach you.  At the time of posting, I’m screening comments, so you can leave contact info and just tell me to not post the comment.

Now, it’s time to subject my fiancee to the majesty of GALA GALA HAPPY, just to make sure she really does love me.

Yet life marches on

There’s a lot going on, but I’ve spent a lot of time being down, withdrawn, and in an empty state of sadness.  I’m slowly coming out of that now, and it’s nice to be getting back to things.  I’ll sort of count backwards for as long as I can hold my own attention with it.

This evening, I’m going to study with a couple ladies from my spanish class.  Lección seis is particularly difficult, so I have a lot of work to do before the test next monday.

This morning, I voted.  I don’t know a lot about the various candidates, and there aren’t really any viable good choices, so I pretty much voted a straight democratic ticket.  I did research the 6 ballot measures before voting on them.  There is one about developing the area near the MetroZoo that caught my attention.  They’re talking about putting in a water park and lots of shopping.  This sounds kinda cool, actually.  I like water parks.  The problem, I learned, is that there is protected pine rockland that borders the zoo, and it would be seriously jeapordized by this development.  I voted No.  There’s barely any pine rockland left in Florida, people.  wtf.  It only serves to further reinforce my feelings on humankind.  On a positive note, it’s the first time I’ve actually voted non-absentee.  Sad stuff, really, that I didn’t start sooner, but at least I’m doing it NOW.  And I will continue to.

Last weekend was really nice (when I wasn’t curled up in a ball on the sofa or the bed.)  We ate at this amazing restaurant (near?) downtown.  I can’t recall the name right now, so I’ll have to recommend it to you later.  I also caught up with Laura a bit.  We haven’t spoken nearly enough lately, so that was really nice.  What else?

Oh, Friday night, Kia was kind enough to pick me up from work, take me to Bougainvillea’s, get me liquored up, and take me to see Borat.  It was disgusting, to be sure, but absolutely hilarious.  It’s easy to see how completely childish, immature, and just pointlessly stupid it is.  What requires a little effort, though, is seeing the brilliant message that is threaded throughout the film.  Cohen manages to shine a bright, focused beam on what complete ignoramuses we are.  In the process, he made me nearly piss myself laughing.  I really want to know how much of the scenes were scripted, at least loosely, before they were shot.  Particularly, I’m intensely curious about Pamela Anderson’s involvement.  Her scene was absolutely priceless.

There isn’t much to report from last week.  I was really mopey and nothing much was going on.

This weekend, EVERYTHING is happening.  Saturday is BANG festival (Duran Duran, Daft Punk, Gnarles Barkley, Common, and dozens of other acts), Sunday is the Ramble (and Kia still has a field trip with one of her classes, I think).  There are seriously myriad other things going on that weekend, but we’ve had to forego them all for our existing plans.  Why did everyone decide on this weekend in particular to plan EVERYTHING?!?  I’m completely excited about BANG.

I also want to upload some photos before long.  We have some really really really cute pictures from Fort Wayne, and a few more things besides.  I’ve lately been working on organizing my photos, actually.  I have a lot of duplication across various drives, with some being more current than others, so I’m using BeyondCompare to synch them all up.  It does binary comparisons on files to ensure that they’re bit-perfect copies of one another.  It’s been making the task infinitely easier to do.  Unfortunately, I’d have to say I’m currently NEARLY half-done.  This is going to take another month or two to complete…  One great bonus, though, is that I’ve simultaneously been able to delete a lot of pointless, crappy, and otherwise worthless files.  Blurry photos that I corrected immediately afterwards, junky photos of clouds or trees or whatever that ended up looking bad, and so on.  Basically, I take pictures to preserve memories, so I’m getting rid of the photos that aren’t worth remembering.  It’s not really a judgment call on the things I actively don’t want to remember, like times that were bad or people that I didn’t want to hang out with.  I’m keeping those.  I’m just getting rid of things that don’t actually contribute to my memory of that time, be it good or bad.  I said that the long way, because one friend was concerned I was going through and pruning out all the bad.  Nope, not the bad, just the pointless.  And let’s face it, I take a LOT of pointless photos!

I also type a lot of pointless words.  :)  Good thing you’re already used to it!
