A Weekend Alone

Not lonely, necessarily, but alone.  Not only is Kia gone for the weekend on a trip up to GA, but I will probably not hang out with any friends.  I have too many hermity things I want to catch up on.  My MP3s are an absolute mess, to the point that it’s impossible to put together a playlist, because I don’t know if I even have the file ripped.  And if I do, did I transcode it to MP3 ? (I rip to FLAC.)  Beyond that, a lot of the FLAC transcodes I did have problems with the ID3 tags, so I need to run them through MusicBrainz or re-transcode them.  Some of them, I apparently did both, because I have like 3 copies of the songs laying around between 3 drives.  It’s ridiculous.

Not to mention that I got a 2.5″ drive to bring Kia’s old MacBook back to life.  I managed to install it (SO EASY in these things!!) but can’t get it to boot.  It’s a slot-loading drive, and it won’t take the disc, so I can’t tell it to boot from the optical.  The screen flashes once, and that’s it.

I just pulled a pineapple pizza out of the oven.  It just occurred to me that it has no protein on it anywhere (but for the tiny bit in the cheese) so I’m thinking … it’s not a very square meal.  Ah well.  At least I’m using half the pineapple before it goes bad.  Hopefully, I’ll find a use for the other half tomorrow morning (pineapple + coconut + ice + blender … + rum?)

You know,  an orange pineapple smoothie isn’t a bad idea.  I’m going to transplant the pineapple to the freezer.

The 2.5″ drive I got for Kia’s old MacBook?  Yeah, I meant to order the 160GB Seagate for 109.99.  I accidentally ordered the 160GB Hitachi for 119.99.  The Seagate is significantly faster, according to Tom’s Hardware, but the Hitachi uses less energy.  It was a tough call, but I thought I went for the cheaper, faster one.  Besides, MacBooks come with Seagate drives, so it seemed a logical fit.  Instead, I got the Hitachi.  I thought they must’ve run out of the Seagates and sent me this one instead, but I looked back at my original confirmation email … yeah.  My bad.  Maybe I was leaning towards the Hitachi briefly?  I dunno.  Battery life seems a more significant point than access speeds in my experience, but whatever.  Suffice to say, it was an easy swap, but I can’t get the computer to boot.  Of course I’m not blaming the drive, because I’m supposed to be booting from the CD.  So we’ll see.  I need to do more internet searching to find out what’s up.  Other things on my plate first, though.

Maybe the Pizza is cool enough to cut now.  Not that I have any desk space where I could set down a plate while I’m eating…  That’s another one of my goals that’s taking priority over figuring out the MacBook….  Cleaning up the damn living room.  My desk is an absolute disaster.  I took a picture, but I won’t post it because I have other pics to post before that.  I know that’s ridiculous, but…

That’s another thing on my to-do list.  I need to organize my pics across 4 or 5 drives, delete a TON of just absolute JUNK, and then upload the particularly good or .. point-having ones to Flickr.  I mean, now that I have that pro account and whatnot, I oughtta be using it.  (Oh, but I AM!)

Alright, that’s all for now.  I’m back to moving file around and stuff.  Hope you had a marvelous week (and a great, happy 4th to those in the states) as well as an absolutely magnificent weekend.
