The World Makes Me Cry

I just got this ad in my gmail for laser hair removel. If you don’t know why that makes me want to cry, then don’t worry about it. It’s just … I mean, they’re PAYING for this. It’s not like an instant message or something. It’s advertising their business. I just don’t get it.

For breakfast, I went to the Crepe Connection Cafe (weird name, I know, but I love the place). The owners there are wacky people, but wacky in a good way. So that’s cool. Also, free wifi.

Gratuitous violence inflicted on both frogs and cats in the full post…

So I was there for breakfast today, and a regular comes in, a cop, clearly from NY. He was chatting with the guy who runs the place (as opposed to the lady, who also runs the place, albeit in a different capacity) and I was welcomed into the conversation. So the ownerguy is telling us about this annoying frog that just would NOT SHUT UP the other day, to the point that he finally went outside to do something about it. He shows a pic on his camera phone of a cuban tree frog with its back end in a snake’s mouth. I imagine I’d've been making some noise, too. So the cop tells a hilariously gruesome story about his partner, who just got a new Crown Vic (2007). I’ll spare you the gory details, but basically there was a cat way up in the engine when the guy started the car. He had only had it about two months when this happened.

To anyone who needs a happy ending on that one, the cat turned out to be fine.

To anyone who prefers reality … the cat actually was fine. In cat heaven.

Anyway, the way the guy told the story, it was hilarious. I couldn’t stop laughing. It also helps that we have way way way way way too many cats in the yard, and I currently have very little love for the species. :)

Anyway, I did finally get the opportunity to speak with the nice officer about the traffic situation in Miami. He confessed to me that he’s been here 17 years, and that if he could leave tomorrow, he would. He also told me that crime is such a big deal, and so difficult to control, and that the number of bad drivers doing illegal things is seriously so extremely high, that to even attempt to tackle the problem would result in the crime getting completely out of control.

I imagine he’s probably at least partly right, but there are still more things to discuss. However, this guy seemed cool. He said he writes about a hundred tickets a month, and is especially fond of busting the DUIs. He got 2 DUIs last night. Not got. Caught. I said “You could’ve gotten another 8 if you were riding with me last night.” Somehow, I found a grossly excessive number of drunks in my taco bell adventure at around 12:30 this morning. It was annoying. Fortunately, drunks aren’t difficult to get away from for the most part, because speed limits aren’t enforced. ;p

Traffic, lack of police enforcement, and police setting a seriously terrible example on the road…. those things make me want to cry as well.

Alright, I’m out of tears. Now I’m going to post a long boring bunch of crap about my main project this weekend…
