I’ve always wanted to have kids. As long as I can remember, I just knew I would. Two of them. First a son, then a daughter in a couple more years. Just like my sister and I. That was the goal, at least. I also knew that fatherhood was un-cool. [...] The best part about having a baby in this time is the number of toys that exist to play with my baby for me. There are high chairs with toys on them, so someone is playing with my baby while I make food. There are mats, laden with toys, so that someone will play [...] There are 4 allowed topics of discussion in our home. Avatar: The Last Airbender (The cartoon, not the film.) Choose one of those or shut it. [...] I am a father. I have been a father for 4 days and 30 minutes. It is already the most amazing thing that has ever happened to me. Two things about this you’ll possibly notice right away: I’m not overly forthcoming on details Let me cover these straightaway. Our son is the most precious thing in [...] Today, I found my diaper bag at a consignment sale in Longmont. I don’t know if the price was typo’d or what, but it was $2.00. It’s a discontinued Baby Björn Diaper Bag that has been for who knows how long, but this one is in GREAT shape, looks really cool, and seems incredibly practical. And [...] I am watching a pseudo-documentary called Being Dad. I didn’t know what to expect. would it be too silly? Would it be serious enough? would it be too gross in an effort to “be masculine”? you never know. I have almost cried three times. It is wonderful. Lots of stories from new dads, Friday Super awesome. Left work, met wife and friends at The Med for happy hour. Podcamp Boulder planning session next. It was excellent. numerous people that I deeply respect and completely adore were in attendance, including Jeremy Tanner himself (who planned the whole thing). I threw two ideas up on the board to consider for sessions: Workflow [...] A funny thing about pitbulls: it isn’t a breed. Pitbull, in fact, is an umbrella under which reside a few breeds, including Staffordshire terriers. We were not aware of this fact. I read the full write-up that the humane society has on Emily, and it is universally agreed upon that she is an amazingly sweet dog. Her [...] We are going to the Longmont Humane Society tomorrow. That is [...] This is a pretty heavy [time period]. Today was MLK Jr. Day. Tomorrow (< 30 min) is our first wedding anniversary. Tomorrow is also the inauguration of Barack Obama. Plenty more to remember, but you know how I go on. We knew when we were planning the wedding that the anniversary would be on inauguration day. We [...] We’re home, returned from our journey to the SF Bay area. We visited Kia’s mother and step-father (I met them for the first time), saw her father, met her friends Cheryl and Shane, and got to hang around in the area for a few days. It was absolutely great. I absolutely loved the [...] Alright, the hard drive running the old site COMPLETELY died, and the guy who ran it didn’t have any good backups. So that’s that. Now I’m setup for 2 years of hosting with DreamHost, and it’s a happy new day. The site is just barely coming up and running, but I’m planning to do it [...] |
